ARTISANS
Our brand is brought to life through the artistry of seven women artisans and mothers from our community,
each skilled in creating high-quality handcrafted pieces, through hand-knitting and crochet, under the creative direction of Jose Vilca.
From the beginning, we felt a quiet pull to work with women from our surroundings. One day, walking through the streets, we came across a woman wearing a hand crocheted blouse. She told us it had been made by her friend, Isela. Months later, Isela became the first artisan to join our atelier. Through her, we met Wilman—her close friend, a knitter since childhood— who now leads our crochet pieces with a deep, intuitive knowledge of the craft.
A few months later, we met Lucila and Diana, who live in a higher part of our district, El Cerrito de La Virgen. It was then that our work began to take on a more collective rhythm. With all of them, we embarked on a shared and very focused exploration of knitting that lasted nearly two years. During that time and since then, we exchange not only techniques and hours in the atelier, but also moments to truly know and listen to one another—one of the greatest gifts this project has given us.
Today, we move forward as a family. The work matters to us, but so does everything that surrounds it—our conversations, the closeness, the ways we show up for each other…
We come from different parts of Trujillo, and from further away too. Some of us, or our parents, arrived here from the Andes and other regions, leaving behind familiar landscapes and long-held traditions. Through it all, knitting becomes a thread of connection—not only linking us to one another, but also reminding us of who we are and where we come from.
